On My Radar
Due to my intolerance for almonds I have been experimenting with nut butters. My favorite creation has been a pistachio butter I made by roasting raw pistachios on a nonstick pan and then mixing them in a blender until it forms into a smooth buttery consistency. Tastes great on its own or with a rice cracker.
Hu Kitchen is the only place I trust to eat outside my house. Great advertising with their outdoor chalk board. I love passing by and reading their witty quotes, my favorite being that “cocaine is gluten-free.” They make this chocolate bar with almond butter and puffed quinoa that has limited ingredients and tastes incredibly sweet. If you are in the mood for a dessert, try this 72% cocoa treat.
Peonies are in season this month in New York City. I have been chasing this flower around for years from Paris to Moscow and they are finally popping up everywhere. I have been buying them left and right in every color imaginable.
Joshua Tree seems like the perfect hideout for a peaceful weekend away. I’d love to book a trip while in the states this summer. Ditto for Wanderlust, a yoga and music festival event occurring in various cities throughout the U.S.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s new book is a godsend. Recipes for every top of allergy and intolerance from dairy to gluten and for the less common - nightshade vegetables, elimination diets - anything you can think of. My favorites include her vegetable soup recipe and my new discovery of leeks. Taste great baked in the oven with olive oil.
I recently bought a juicer and have been juicing away ever since. My favorite combinations are kale, apple, ginger, celery and cucumber and carrot, apple and ginger. Save money by buying a juicer rather than doing a daily trip to your local juice store.
